Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists is to help our members become better practitioners. 

 

Vision Statement

To be recognized as the voice and resource for Health-System Pharmacy in the state of Georgia.

 

Objectives of GSHP

 

1.            To advance public health by promoting the professional interests of pharmacists practicing in organized health‑care settings through

 

a.  Fostering pharmaceutical services aimed at drug‑use control and rational drug therapy

 

b.  Developing professional standards for pharmaceutical services

 

c.  Fostering an adequate supply of well‑trained, competent pharmacists and associated personnel

 

d.  Developing and conducting programs for maintaining and improving the competence of pharmacists and associated personnel

 

e.  Disseminating information about pharmaceutical services and rational drug use

 

f.  Improving communication about pharmaceutical services and rational drug use

 

g.  Promoting research in the health and pharmaceutical sciences and in pharmaceutical services

 

h.  Promoting the economic welfare of pharmacists and associated personnel.

 

2.            To foster rational drug use in society such as through advocating appropriate     

                public policies toward that end

 

               To foster student interest in pursuing health-system pharmacy as a career path.

 

   To encourage the Deans of Georgia’s Colleges of pharmacy to become involved in GSHP.

 

   To promote the value of serving as a pharmacy preceptor and to provide tools to facilitate preceptor development

 

   To encourage the nomination of additional health-system pharmacists on the Board of Pharmacy.

 

                To increase technician training and promote technician certification.

 

                To advocate technician registration in the state of Georgia.

 

    To increase involvement in large public awareness issues (e.g., medication reconciliation) and pursue partnership with the Georgia Hospital Association   on these issues.

 

                To promote and lead in billing for cognitive services and provider status.

 

                To promote, recognize and foster excellence in Health-system pharmacy practice.

 

   To provide educational opportunities relevant to current issues affecting pharmacy practice.

 

                To utilize technology to make programs more accessible to health-system practitioners.
